The holding arrangement consists of a threaded stud with a head of larger dia. The threaded part is passed through a hole in a workpiece which is to be clamped and screwed into the machine tool spindle, like a conventional clamping screw. The holding arrangement has a main bore in which a plunger is mounted. The plunger can be pushed into the bore by an adjusting screw. The main bore is connected by channels to an annular space in which a ring shaped piston is mounted. Main bore and channels are filled with hydraulic fluid. When the adjusting screw is tightened, the ring shaped piston which is mounted in the head is forced against the workpiece.
