1476821 Fluidized bed reduction furnace CENTRO SPERIMENTALE METALLURGICO SpA 6 June 1975 [17 June 1974] 24379/75 Heading F4B [Also in Division C7] Ore, e.g. Fe ore, is reduced in a vertical multistage fluidized-bed reactor, wherein reducing gas produced by the partial combustion of CH 4 and O 2 is intoduced to the reactor at an intermediate zone, and the off-gas is stripped of CO 2 and H 2 O and recycled to the final metallization zone. CH 4 and O 2 are fed to chamber 6, via pipes 12, 13, in substoichiometric proportions, the reducing gas produced (mainly H 2 and CO) being delivered to chamber 7 above the final metallization zone 2. The off-gas is removed at 15, cleaned at 16, passed through heat-exchanger 8, and thence to units 9, 10 for CO 2 and H 2 O removal, the resulting gas being fed into the final zone 2 via heat-exchanger 8 and heating chamber 11. In an example, ore containing 65% Fe is reduced to fine-grained sponge Fe with a degree of reduction of 95À4%. The pressure in the reactor is 1-5 atmospheres.
|
