A connector produces an electrical connection to the metallic screen of an electrical cable which has numerous conductors, an inner metallic screen above the conductors and an outer insulating sheath above the cable. A high-power connector produces a high current-carrying capacity and has a stiff guide rail with first and second parallel sections which are connected to one another via an intermediate section, and an elastic strip with first and second parallel sections which are connected to one another via an intermediate section, the first sections of the strip being attached to one another in order to complete the connector, and the second section of the strip having a tongue-shaped projection in the direction of the attachment and having prongs which project obliquely in the direction of the attachment, in order to engage in the sheath.
