PURPOSE:To obtain an image receiving tube for monochromatic display, in which the color of the fluorescent screen is gray and the dark region develops nearly pure black color, by using a phosphor compsn. obtd. by blending a terbium-activated phosphor with a white-emitting phosphor mixture. CONSTITUTION:A terbium-activated phosphor having a slightly purplish white color (e.g. Gd2O2S:Tb, La2O2S:Tb, Y2O2S: Tb or Y3Al5O12:Tb) is blended with a white-emitting phosphor compsn. formed by mixing a blue-emitting phosphor such as ZnS:Au, Al with a yellow-emitting phosphor such as ZnCdS:Cu, Al. The bulb of an image receiving tube is coated with the resulting phosphor compsn.
