PURPOSE:To realize labor saving or color separating operation by reading picture element information on a polychromatic original picture and performing color analysis into spectral data of M channels, and extracting a data at random and generating the histogram of the level distribution of every channel. CONSTITUTION:A polychromatic design 21 wound around a drum 20 is scanned along a scanning line 201, reflected light from a picture element point 23 is color-separated by a polychromatic separator 24 into spectra of M channels and led to a processor 25, and color-analyzed data are stored in a storage device 6 temporarily. The processor 25 reads data out of the device 6 at random to generate histogram of level distribution by channels of spectral data, and divides the level area of each channel into plural zones on the basis of the histogram. The combination of zones of respective channels is identified to classify sampled picture elements into corresponding color areas for N colors, and a color samples are studied by a pattern display device 20 and the data is outputted to a pattern generating machine 27. |
