In order to simplify replacement of the piercing punch (32) in a hydraulic punching apparatus which consists of a basic body (10), a head (14) formed on the latter and a workpiece reception table (11) with a piercing punch mounted in the head, provision has been made for the piston rod of the main piston to be guided both above and below the main piston, in a sealing manner resulting from the limiting of its cylinder space and to contain in a passage bore the piercing punch which extends through the entire passage bore and is releasably connected to the upper part of the piston rod at the top of the outside of the cylinder. <IMAGE>
