PURPOSE:To dispense with a container for receiving a matching solution and to suppress the use amount of the matching solution to the min. degree, by covering the fine uneven surface of an optical body to be tested with the film of the matching solution so as to obtain a smooth surface before detecting the defect of the optical body. CONSTITUTION:A light transmissive optical body 1 to be tested is arranged between a spot light source 4 and a photoelectric conversion apparatus 5 and the defect of the optical body 1 is detected from the transmitted light or transmitted light image of the optical body 1. In this case, the optical body 1 to be tested has a fine uneven surface bacause of rough grinding and the surface thereof is preliminarily covered with the smoothed liquid film with the min. thickness of a matching solution 2 and, thereafter, light from the spot light source 4 is irradiated toward the optical body 1 to be tested. Then, light easily transmits the body 1 to be tested and the transmitted light or transmitted light image of the liquid film of the matching solution 2 and the body 1 to be tested can be received by the light receiving part of the photoelectric conversion apparatus 5 and, therefore, the optical defect in the body 1 to be tested can be detected. |
