The object of the search is fitted with a miniaturised radio transmitter, fixed for example to the collar of a dog. When the disappearance is noticed, the owner switches a miniaturised radio receiver to a listening mode. The receiver is fitted with a rotatable frame aerial and is housed in a flexible cover or a leather accessory. The orientation of the frame aerial giving a maximum strength of reception at two stations in succession several metres apart enables the precise location of the animal carrying the transmitter to be determined. <IMAGE>
