PURPOSE:To output the signal corresponding to the intensity of received light and to measure the absorbancy of a sample liquid with a desired cell length by supplying the sample liquid onto a rotary plate which rotates at a prescribed speed and receiving the reflected light of the light projected toward the surface of said plate or the passage thereof. CONSTITUTION:The rotary plater 26 having an inverted circular conical shape of a measuring instrument is so installed as to have the axial center of rotation in a vertical direction and is rotated at the prescribed speed by a driving device 28. A supplying pipe 30 of a means 34 for supplying the sample liquid is disposed to the position above the axial center of the rotary plate 26 to supply the sample liquid from a constant rate supplying rate 32. A liquid collecting member 36 is provided to the peripheral edge of the rotary plate 26 to collect the splashing liquid. The collected liquid is run out to a piping 38. A light projecting device 40 and a light receiving device 42 are disposed on the same side relative to the rotary plate 26. The light irradiated by the light projecting device 40 is reflected by the rotary plate 26 and is received by the light receiving device 42. The signal corresponding to the intensity of the received light is outputted and the absorbancy of the sample liquid is measured with the prescribed cell length.
