Diaphragm actuating drive

In a diaphragm actuating drive which can be operated with pressure fluid (positive pressure or vacuum), prolonged service life of the diaphragm and thus of the drive, in particular in a peripheral arrangement of the actuating rod in the working plate vulcanised in the diaphragm, is achieved owing to the fact that a tall casing running continuously around the working plate is formed on the side of the working plate on which the rolling bellows work. The casing has an axial height which prevents turning-over of the rolling diaphragm onto the surface of the working plate. Good results in a compromise between overall height of the drive and functional reliability are obtained if the casing has an axial height which corresponds at least essentially to approximately half the available working length of the rolling diaphragm in the axial direction.
