Valuable constituents of hippophae rhamnoides are extracted by 1) fruits are pressed and to each l. of juice 1-4g of phosphoric acid and 2-10 mg. of butyl-hydroxy-toluene are added. - 2) residual marc is extracted by a cold aq. soln. contg. - 2-3% phosphoric acid and 25-30 % ethyl-alcohol. 3) juice of 1) and extract of 2) is combined and supernatant oil phase removed. The liq. is decanted and opt. - clarified or filtered. 4) opt. 1-3% propane-diol and 0.2-0.8% propolio extract is added and the prepn. is opt. - concentrated. 5) sugar fruit juice, fruit pulp, opt. - flavouring and/or other customary additives are added to the prepn. and the vitamin rich foodstuff is produced pref. as jellies, syrup or syrup concentrate.
