Laser surface marking device e.g. for electric cables - uses concentration of laser beam after passing through aperture mask

The marking device uses a laser beam (4) directed onto the surface of the object via an aperture mask (5). The laser beam (4) is concentrated after its passage through the mask (5) to ensure a parallel beam allowing an increased penetration depth and sharpness of image. Pref. the laser is in the UV rnage with expansion of the laser beam (4) prior to its passage through the aperture mask (5). It is pref. provided by an excimer laser. ADVANTAGE - Allows increased marking detail.
