The device according to the invention includes electronic means 4, 5, 6 capable of giving a signal signifying the approach of a target, means 7 and 8 for triggering the firing of the fuse, a magnetic field 2 generator 1, a magnetic field receiver 3. The device uses the signal generated at the terminals of the receiver by the variation in the magnetic field caused by the approach of the projectile with respect to the target. One application is the firing of a fuse called proximity fuse, serving for priming a ballistic or self-propelled projectile, in the near vicinity of the target to be destroyed or to be damaged.
