A circulated-gas evaporator is formed from a laboratory distillation appts., with a still (1), heating means (2), vapour riser (3), water (4), receiver (5), and pressure connection (6). By means of a gas inlet tube (11) extending to the bottom of the distillation flask, a gas pump (12), a disengagement space (13) for gas and distillate, a gas recycle line (14), and a gas supply line which in part serves as a pressure connection, a circulation path is formed for a gas which is distinct from the liquid vapour. USE/ADVANTAGE - Laboratory evapn. of liqs. at temps. below their b.pts., in an appts. which is of simpler construction to a rotary film evaporator, avoiding the use of vacuum, reducing risk of emissions of harmful substances and being particularly useful for concentration and disolventisation of extracts etc.
