<p>A one-part, moisture curable sealant composition which upon exposure to ambient moisture and at ambient temperature will cure to form a crosslinked silicone-acrylic polymer network includes an alkoxysilane functionalized acrylic polymer, a silanol, and a silane crosslinker. The alkoxy silane functionalized acrylic polymer is the free radical polymerization product of one or more monomers of acrylic or methacrylic acid, or alkyl esters thereof, and at least one other vinyl addition monomer either having an alkoxysilane moiety or having an amino, mercapto, hydroxyl or isocyanato functionality which reacts with a compound having an appropriate reactive functional group and an alkoxysilane moiety. The alkoxysilane functionalized acrylic polymer which is polymerized in a water free environment is mixed with a silanol solution containing hydroxy terminated siloxane polymers and optional polyfunctional silane crosslinkers. The compositions of the invention are useful as caulks, sealants and adhesives and can be used on a variety of substrates including those having glass, metal, ceramic or concrete surfaces.</p> |
