Described is an endoscopic video system with an illuminating light source, a fibre-optic waveguide (5, 5') which transmits the light to at least one distal light exit and, at least one colour-image video recorder (4) with its associated optical system (7). The invention is characterized in that at least one spectral filter (8) is located in the illuminating light source or in the fibre-optic waveguide, the filter being designed in such a way that it adapts the spectral distribution of the visible light from the light source to the spectral sensitivity of the colour-image recorder (4).
