Fibre composite materials (I) contg. a thermoplastic polymer matrix (A) and cellulosic fibres or filaments as reinforcing material (B) are claimed. Matrix (A) is a hydroxyalkyl-cellulose of formula Cell-O-(R-O)n-H (A1) or a cellulose alkyl-carboxylate of formula Cell-O-(R-O)n-CO-(CH2)m-X (A2), with a degree of substn. (DS) of not more than 2 in each case. In formulae, R = 2-12C alkylene; X = H or -COOH; n = 1-10; m = 1-12. Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of (I). Pref. fibres (B) are natural cellulose fibres, pref. spun from a soln. of cellulose in amine oxide. (B) is in the form of single fibres/filaments, sheet material, or woven or nonwoven fabric. In stage (e), the matrix material (A) is used as suspension, powder, fibres/filaments or film. |
