In the procedure for making a product out of wood, grooves 3 are machined on a surface of a wooden material 1, the material 1 is fixed by the surface 2 which bears the grooves 3 onto a flexible underlay 4, and wood is then removed from the raw material 1 at the groove 3 positions so that separate parts 7a-7b remain fixed on the underlay 4. The raw base material 1a,1b can be fixed on opposite sides 4a,4b of the underlay 4 such that corresponding grooves 3a,3b on the said opposite sides will lie effectively in the same position. The raw material is shaped 24 before removal of wood at the groove 3 positions. The flexible underlay 4 will be preferably of leather, while the raw material 1a,1b is fixed to underlay 4 by non-poisonous water-soluble glue 5. Flexible, bright attractive toys, ornaments, decorations etc. can be made using this procedure, which is simple and at the same time economical and effective in its application. The procedure and the products made therefrom are very environmentally friendly. <IMAGE>
