A method for asymmetrical data transmission involves transmission of data bidirectionally (duplex operation) between a base station and a subscriber station. A first carrier frequency (f1) is used for the forward direction (UL) and second carrier frequency (f2) for the returning direction (DL) of transmission. The transmission is intermittent with pauses in transmission for receiving signal of further stations. During transmission pauses, additional data is transmitted between the base station and the subscriber station, and a third carrier frequency (f3) is used for this transmission.
