PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an epoxy resin composition for the production of a composite material which exhibits strength even in a severe environment by including an epoxy resin with an aliphatic polyamine compound in an amount to give a specified equivalent ratio to the epoxy resin and a specified amount of a polyaminophenol compound. SOLUTION: This composition comprises formulating an epoxy resin (A), an aliphatic polyamine compound (B) in an amount corresponding to an equivalent ratio to resin A of 0.5-2.0, and 0.5-20 wt.%, based on the total weight of components A and B, polyaminophenol compound (C). It is desirable that component A contains 5-50 wt.% adduct of a carboxyl-terminated butadiene/nitrile rubber with a bisphenol A epoxy resin. Component B is exemplified by ethylene glycol bis(3-aminoproyl)ether or propylene glycol bis(3-aminopropyl)ether. Component C is exemplified by 2,4,6-tris(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol or 1,3-[4,6-bis(dimethylaminomethyl)phenyl]propane.
