PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To settle the problem, where a single tape reel on which a magnetic tape is rotatably wound stored in a case main body, the tip of the tape is fixed to a thick and springy leader tape of synthetic resin, a tape cartridge is drawn out from the opening of the case main body by a tape draw-out member of a device, having a pin-like or hook-shaped tip and the tape cartridge cannot secure its stable operation due to the insecure engagement between the leader tape and the draw-out member. SOLUTION: A leader member, consisting of a material of high rigidity is used in place of a conventional leader tape. The leader member includes a center pin member on which a magnetic tape is wound and engagement members, which are attached to the upper and lower ends of the pin member and are engaged with the tape draw-out member of a device. Each of the engagement members has at least one engagement recess part engaged to the tape draw-out member and is formed as a single body. In such a constitution, the accuracy of the leader member is improved, and also an assured operation and the mass productivity are attained for the leader member.
