PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a cosmetic by which abrasion or damage to a male mold can be prevented and a solid cosmetic having a desired uneven pattern is readily obtained. SOLUTION: This method for producing a cosmetic comprises arranging a thin-shaped shallow bottomed container 1 for housing a solid cosmetic in a female mold 2 comprising a mortar 21 and lower punch 22, charging a cosmetic powder composition 3 capable of forming the solid cosmetic into the female mold 2, compressing and filling the charged cosmetic powder composition 3 through a sheetlike flexible member 5 having flexibility into the thin-shaped shallow bottomed container 1 with the male mold 4 provided with an upper punch 42 in the upper part of an electrocast mold 41 having a compression end face 41c provided with a prescribed uneven part 41d formed therein and reinforced with a filler 41b and the female mold 2 and producing the solid cosmetic 6 having the reversed and transferred uneven pattern 61 of the uneven part 41d formed on the surface thereof.
