PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thickening method for a metallic pipe capable of easily extracting a die without generating a bump inside the thickening part in the thickening method for the metallic pipe such as an oxide dispersion strengthened type Fe based-superalloy. SOLUTION: In a thickening method for a metallic pipe, while inserting a die 6 to the inside of the thickening part of a metallic pipe 7 and adding a specific compression force in the longitudinal direction, a thickening part is locally heated to a sufficient temperature region for plastic working with a high-frequency induction heating and the like, a coefficient of a thermal expansion of the die 6 material is higher than a coefficient of a thermal expansion of the metallic pipe 7.
