PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control system which easily gives a highlight effect according with presentation contents of a presenter and is suitable for flexible and smooth presentation. SOLUTION: A portable terminal 140 and a projector 200 are so connected that they can communicate with each other. When presenter's operation is inputted, the portable terminal 140 transmits inputted operation contents to the projector 200. When projector display data including highlight designation information related to contents of the highlight effect to be given in a display picture is given, the projector 200 controls projection of presentation on the basis of projector display data. When operation contents are received in the middle of projection control, the projector detects operation contents related to the highlight effect out of received operation contents as highlight operation information based on highlight designation information included in projector display data to give the highlight effect in the display picture based on detected highlight operation information while controlling projection of presentation in accordance with received operation contents.
