METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SECURITY BASED ON VIDEO DETECTION FOR AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING MECHANICAL SYSTEM, SUCH AS MOVING SIDEWALK AND ESCALATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe detecting method based on video detection for automatically controlling mechanical systems, such as moving sidewalks and escalators. SOLUTION: The method is for detecting persons or things in a detecting zone including a mechanical system which is controlled in correspondence with the detection of presence in the detecting zone. The method involves a step of initial setting in which the hardware elements and the software elements of a monitoring apparatus coupled with a controller for the mechanical system are inspected; and a step in which the controller is controlled using a processing loop including acquiring images supplied from individual active cameras which are connected with the monitoring apparatus and cover the detecting zone, processing the images to generate detection data, determining a control signal applied to the controller, and inspecting the quality of images and the positions of the cameras in relation to the detecting zone and the control signal determined in the processing loop and in correspondence with any trouble detected during inspection.
