PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device for a hydraulic motor inexpensively and easily assembling a plurality of springs 12 for pressing a brake piston 11 to a friction plate 15. SOLUTION: This brake device for the hydraulic motor is composed of the brake piston 11 for braking the rotation of the friction plate 15 integrated with a cylinder barrel 6 by pressing the friction plate 15 to casings 1, 2, and a plurality of compression coil springs 12 respectively mounted between the casings 1, 2 for pressing the brake piston 11 to the friction plate 15 and the brake piston 11. A plurality of compression coil springs 12 are inserted into a plurality of holes 14 formed on an annular cage 13, and the annular cage 13 is fitted in one annular groove 16 formed on the casing.
