PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect the number of threads or the thread depth of a tap hole bored in a machine component, etc., without contacting. SOLUTION: A TV camera 3 and spotlighting 4 which are set obliquely to the center line of the tap hole 2 so that the inner side of the tap hole 2 is an image pickup visual field, and the thread of the tap hole 2 is illuminated by the spotlighting 4; and an image of the tap hole 2 is picked up by the TV camera 3 under the lighting, and bright points 14 formed on the threads of the tap hole 2 are counted by the image processing of an image processor 6 to inspect the number of threads or the thread depth of the tap hole.
