摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an N-hydroxy cyclic imide compound, capable of producing the compound with good operability, in a high yield, and further with safety. <P>SOLUTION: A cyclic acid anhydride is reacted with an inorganic acid salt of hydroxylamine in the presence of at least one kind of compound selected from an organic acid and an acyclic acid anhydride, so that at least one kind of compound selected from a corresponding N-hydroxy cyclic imide compound and N-acyloxy cyclic imide compound is formed. Phthalic anhydride, maleic anhydride, succinic anhydride, and naphthalic anhydride are exemplified as the cyclic acid anhydride. Hydroxylammonium phosphate and hydroxylammonium sulfate are exemplified as the inorganic acid salt of hydroxylamine. Carboxylic acids, such as acetic acid and propionic acid, are included in the organic acid.
