The unit has a pad (10) that is provided with an active face (11) extending perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of a motor vehicle. The active face is displaceable between a retracted position in a vehicle base (7) and a deployed position in which the active face is projected below the vehicle base. The active face is projected at the upstream and downstream of front and rear wheels (3, 4) of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle.
