PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuous grinding over a long time without dressing work; to use a grinding liquid without waste; and to perform work with a small quantity of grinding liquid, by preventing clogging of a grinding wheel, in a grinding method and a device suitable for work of a hard fragile material such as a glass pane. SOLUTION: The grinding liquid superimposed with an ultrasonic wave is imparted to a grinding wheel surface in a more upstream side position in the grinding wheel rotating direction than work points 2a and 2b where a rotary grinding wheel 3 contacts with a workpiece 1. The grinding liquid is supplied to the work points by carrying the imparted grinding liquid to the work points 2a and 2b in a state of being stuck to (wound on) the grinding wheel surface. The cleaning action of the grinding wheel surface is exhibited in a position where the grinding liquid is imparted to the grinding wheel surface. Since a grinding liquid imparting position can be separated from the work points, the nozzle tip 7 can be sufficiently brought close to the grinding wheel surface, and waste of the grinding liquid can be prevented.
