An improved discharge electrode for ion emission in an electrostatic precipitator comprising a generally rigid tubular member having a plurality of rounded protrusions embossed thereon and extending outwardly therefrom to disperse the ion emission provided by the member. In a preferred embodiment, the protrusions are embossed on the tubular member.
