PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boot attachment method capable of obtaining stable high joining force, and a constant velocity universal joint using the method.SOLUTION: In a boot attachment method for a constant velocity universal joint for attaching and fixing a boot end portion to a metallic mating member, a slit is formed on an attached face as an outer diameter face of a mating member, a boot end portion is externally fitted to the attached face of the mating member, and then a ring-shaped high frequency induction heating coil is externally fitted to the boot end portion. High frequency electric current is applied to the high frequency induction heating coil to heat only a surface layer part of the attached face of the mating member by high frequency induction. Thus an attaching face of an inner diameter face of the boot end portion and the attached face of the outer diameter face of the mating member are joined and integrated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
