VIDEO AND SOUND SIGNAL RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To obtain pictures and reproduction signals of high quality by combining three video signal components and digitized sound signals into two signal systems and recording and reproducing these two signal systems with different pairs of heads. CONSTITUTION:The luminance signal Y of the video signal is recorded and reproduced via a pair of heads 9 and extracted through a terminal 16. Then signals R-Y and B-Y supplied from terminals 2 and 3 are turned into a signal 28 through time axis compression 22 then recorded by a different pair of heads 10 different from those for a signal 29 which is supplied from a terminal 21 and underwent digital conversion 23 into a sound signal. The signals reproduced and demodulated by a reproduction amplifier 12 and a frequency demodulator 14 in a reproduction mode are turned into original signals R-Y and B-Y by a time axis expander 15 and then delivered 17 and 18. While a part of the output of the demodulator 14 is demodulated 26 to digital sound signals and delivered through a terminal 27.
