PROTECTION RING OF PROTECTING METALLIC CLOSURES FOR BOTTLES, WIDE-RECKED OR SIMILAR CONTAINERS

A bottle is fitted with a metal cap (4) with a rolled edge (3). The cap is secured on the bottle by means of a security ring (1) which has a flange (2) which engages the rolled edge of the cap. The lower edge of the security ring has a claw (5) which engages the underside of a ridge (8) formed on the bottle neck. The claw is of triangular cross-section and is attached to the ring by a thin flexible bridge (7) forming a hinge. The rotation of the claw about the hinge is limited by the inner surface (6) of the ring. When the cap is unscrewed the claw is torn from the ring at the hinge.
