<p>PURPOSE:To multiply animal cells efficiently and to obtain preformed chemical mediator efficiently, by cultivating the animal cells with a composition for animal cell multiplication containing polyethylene glycol and/or polyvinyl alcohol and a low-density lipoprotein. CONSTITUTION:A base medium useful for animal cell culture is incorporated with about 0.01-2%(w/v) polyethylene glycol having 2,000-20,000 (especially 4,000, 6,000 or 20,000) mol.wt. and/or 0.01-3% polyvinyl alcohol having 500-2,000 (especially 500 or 1,500-1,800) average polymerization degree (preferably mixture having a weight ratio of both of 0.1-10) and about 0.5-100mug/ml LDL prepared from serum of animal such as bovine, swine, etc., to give a composition for multiplication, in a solid or aqueous solution state. The composition is optionally mixed with <=an ordinary use amount of serum or serum substitute and animal cells are cultivated at pH about 6.5-7.5 at about 37 deg.C for several days - three months to produce a preformed chemical mediator.</p> |
