A flat link articulated chain having flat links made of high-strength, low-density plastic fibres, and having pressure pieces associated with them in an articulated manner and made of titanium or titanium alloys for high-speed operating conditions with high chain speeds. By the use of low-density materials according to the invention, the centrifugal force component which reduces the useful tension in the chain is decreased and the efficiency of such transmission elements is increased by the higher chain speed level operable. In particular, future fields of application are thus opened up in the vehicle sector or, for example, on turbo machinery.
