A method and a device for lopping in conjunction with winching of a felled tree trunk 2 with a lopping unit 6 comprising two lopping blades 10, 14, each consisting of at least three parts which are articulated on each other, of which outer parts are arranged to execute a pivoting movement in a direction towards each other while pressure is applied to the central part. The cable 1 used for the winching is caused to pass over a pivotably mounted limit stop member 7 extending from the lopping unit in the direction counter to the direction of movement of a tree trunk, and, upon contact with a first end portion of the tree trunk 2, executes a pivoting movement upwards from a ground plane and thus lifts the said end portion in and over a lower lopping blade 10. Upon continued pivoting of the limit stop member 7, the upper lopping blade 14 is moved from a rear position in the direction towards the lower lopping blade 10 and takes up a bearing position against the tree trunk 2, as a result of which branches are removed during the successive winching operation by means of the lopping blades 10, 14 pressed against the tree trunk. After lopping of a tree trunk 2 has been completed, the upper lopping blade is pivoted back to a retreat position by manual actuation. <IMAGE> |
