The high concn. alpha-sulpho fatty acid ester salt aq. slurry contains (a) and (b), with (a)/(b) = 8/2-0/10 by wt. ratio and (a)+(b) = 65-80 wt.%. (a) alpha-sulpho fatty acid ester salt of which fatty acid residue is 16-24C. (b) alpha-sulpho fatty acid ester salt of which fatty acid residue is 6-15C. The alpha-sulpho fatty acid ester salt is pref. a salt of sulphonation matter of fatty acid lower alkyl ester. It is given by formula (I) where R; alkyl gp. or alkenyl gp., R'; lower alkyl gp. (pref. 1-4C), M; pair ion (pref. Na, K)). Carbon number distribution of fatty acid residue (R-CHCOO) is C16-24/C6-15 = 8/2-0/10 (pref. 7/3-0/10). The aq. slurry contains inorganic sulphate such as Na2SO4. K2SO4 (pref. up to 2 wt.%), fatty acid salt, fatty acid ester, alcohol sulphate, and alcohol.
