The invention encompasses a universal clamping system for metalworking machines, in which the action, on the one hand, is based on fixing the assembly to be processed with the aid of expansion sleeves and, on the other hand, the accuracy of the system is ensured by means of a form fit. The advantage of this system over existing systems is its modular structure, which allows it to be used for constantly changing product sizes. A further difference of this clamping system is a force transmission arrangement on the side, which is concentrated between the grid bed and the product holder. Figure 5 shows the structure of the clamping system. Reference number 1 denotes the grid plate in which clamping elements (reference number 2) can be positioned as desired. Various product holders, such as single holders (reference number 3) and pallets (reference number 4), to which relatively large or a plurality of products are attached, can be placed on these elements. <IMAGE>
