The artificial hair is made from a synthetic material based on polybutylene-terephthalate, extruded or moulded to produce capillary monofilaments with a diameter of 85-100 microns. Pref. the base material has a mol. wt. of 8500-10000, with a chain length of 430-538 A, and the filaments formed from it are implanted in the skin singly or doubly, using a notched needle and a slip-knot. The filaments should have a breaking strain or at least 250 grammes and a coefficient of elasticity of 36 per cent or more. They can be coloured with non-organic and biocompatible dyes. USE/ADVANTAGE - Replacement for human hair on a head which is partly or completely bald. Virtually without electrostatic charge, and does not stand on end or stick together after brushing.
