Fluidised bed furnace floor

The floor consists of a metal supporting sheet (1) with fluidising gas injection nozzles passing through it and covered with a layer of a refractory material. The sheet is made from a refractory steel, and the covering layer is made from flat members (6) of the same metal, joined to the supporting sheet by welds (8) at individual points. The flat members are laid side by side, and each one has a hole (7) through the middle for the weld connecting it to the supporting sheet. The nozzles are located in straight rows along and across the floor and are situated at the rounded corners of adjoining flat members.
