A torque limiting apparatus is constituted by a spiral spring or coil spring (46) torsionally movable in response to a relative rotation between input and output (16,41) under torque loading the spiral spring (46) being elastically deformed and assembled so that an end (47) thereof is elastically urged toward a position where it is disengaged from a spring catcher (43). A projection or pin (48a) comes into contact with a portion of the spiral spring (46) to disengage the end (47) of the spiral spring (46) from the spring catcher (43) and thereby interrupt torque transmission when the torque exceeds a predetermined limit. <IMAGE>
