PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an automatic teller machine capable of processing much cash, especially processing both of reception of a large number of coins and a small number of coins. SOLUTION: In the automatic teller machine provided with a card insertion part for reading out customer's information from a customer card, a bankbook entry part for reading out the customer's information from a bankbook, a paper money reception/payment part, and a coin reception/payment part and performing a transaction by the customer's information recorded in a transaction medium, the size of a coin reception/payment slit is increased, a shutter and a small-amount shutter are prepared, and in the case of receiving reception of a large number of coins, both the shutter and small-amount shutter are opened in the case of a large number coins on the basis of large amount permission information recorded in a transaction medium.
