PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high purity (meth)acrylic acid ester in good efficiency, capable of simply removing a catalyst after the reaction and performing in an industrial scale. SOLUTION: This method for producing a methacrylic acid ester is provided by performing a reaction of an alcohol with methacrylic acid anhydride in the presence of an inorganic salt of an alkali metal and methacrylic acid or an alkali metal salt of methacrylic acid in an organic solvent. The method for producing an acrylic acid ester is provided by performing a reaction of an alcohol with acrylic acid anhydride in the presence of an inorganic salt of an alkali metal and acrylic acid or an alkali metal salt of acrylic acid in the organic solvent.
