PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a write driver circuit for driving a magnetic head compatible with a plurality of kinds of magnetic heads and magnetic storage media. SOLUTION: The write driver circuit is provided with: a write current generating section for generating a plurality of kinds of write currents to magnetize a prescribed storage area in a magnetic storage medium in a prescribed direction; a switching section for switching a plurality of kinds of the write currents generated by the write current generating section on the basis of a switching signal to change a direction of magnetization by the magnetic head; and an overshoot current generating section for generating an overshoot current to instantaneously increase the write current when the switching section changes the direction of magnetization, and the overshoot current generating section is configured to generate the overshoot current on the basis of an overshoot current generating signal separately prepared from the switching signal of the switching section.
