Each arm of a bridge power control has upper and lower power transistors (TH,TL) delivering a signal (ENH,ENL) dependent on their operating temperature. Upper and lower transistor monitoring circuits (RS, DS, TK, DK, CK) detects a short circuit from the drop in voltage over a transistor. The bridge controller (BT) responds to these signals by cutting off the appropriate power transistor.
