Chemical reactor for two immiscible liquids - has emulsifier, e.g. using ultrasonic waves, at inlet replacing mechanical agitators

Physical/chemical reactions are initiated in a processing vessel, by bringing together >=2 immiscible fluids. The fluids are introduced via a common conduit into an emulsifier at the inlet of the reactor. Inside the reactor the fluids are pref. recirculated by means of the jet leaving the emulsifier. Baffles are also fitted to guide the flow. A number of reactors in tandem, may be located at the inlet of each of which there is an emulsifier of the vibrating blade type, fed by a pump in the fluid line. Use of vane and screw agitators, etc. which, apart from a certain inefficiency, consume a large amt. of energy, is avoided, and the only maintenance required is cleaning.
