Remote positioning of a vehicle rear view mirror is achieved along two axes. The drive to the mirror may be mechanical or via an electric motor and is controlled from two buttons on the vehicle dash board. Electrical drive is from a motor coupled by a pair of Bowden (RTM) cables via reduction gearing engaging with an internal toothed rim wheel to a central drive cog. Which of the axes is drive, is controlled by movement between two positions of an intermediate cogged wheel. This then drives one or other of two further wheels to which the cables are coupled. The drive at the mirror is taken through worm gearing co-axial with an outer rotatable tube via gearing. Provision is made for direct adjustment of position at this remote drive end.
|
