PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electrochemical device superior in safety; and a separator which enables the formation of the electrochemical device.SOLUTION: A separator for an electrochemical device according to the present invention comprises: a fine porous first separator layer 10 which has a multilayer structure, and performs a shutdown at each of melting points set in multiple stages; a thermally-resistant fine porous second separator layer 20 provided on one face of the first separator layer 10; and a fine porous third separator layer 30 which is provided on the other face of the first separator layer 10, or one face of the second separator layer 20, and performs a shutdown at lower temperatures than the temperatures when the first separator layer 10 does so.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
