An endoscope (10) is connected to a light supply device (20) through a universal cord (18). The light supply device (20) comprises an illumination lamp (44) for emitting a diagnostic light and a stroboscopic tube (46) for sending forth a photographic light. The diagnostic and photographic lights are selectively conducted to the endoscope (10). A control section (54) for controlling the operation of the flash tube (46) is formed of a patient circuit (56), intermediate circuit (58) and primary circuit (60). Said intermediate circuit (58) is connected to the patient circuit (56) as well as to the primary circuit (60) optically.
